Fight Night - 27 November, 2009
Jock Athletic & Left Hook Promotions would like to congratulate the team of Fight Club II for all their hard work & perseverance in achieving their ultimate goal - their first fight! Overall, Fight Club raised $3,000 in honour of the Steve Waugh Foundation & the Ponting Foundation - an awesome effort by all those involved!
The format changed with Fight Club II, and a lot more emphasis was put into technique, which was displayed beautifully on Fight Night. Fight Night once again was a great spectacle, and again featured at Sharkies.
The night opened with another Police grudge match with 'The Doctor' Paul brawling with 'The Destroyer' Downing. Then followed a great proper amateur bout, and we thank Jack Brubaker and Dean for their help. Then on to the Fight Clubbers, and there were no losers on the night, just guys who had the courage to step into the ring and face their fears and limitations. The fights were skilful, the fights were hard and sometimes brutal, but that's the nature of the beast.
Ryan Waters and Corey Bocking prepared them to a great standard and nobody disgraced themselves, but instead covered themselves in honour and the power that comes with attaining a very hard goal.
To have two of Australia's best coaches in the corners was amazing and such a privilege, so special thanks has to go to David Birchell and Brian Wilmott. If you watched the Danny Green Fight, you saw these same two guys in Green's corner, so I hope the fighters realised how special they were.
Another special thanks has to go to Vision's Sam Bird, who came in to fight 'The Machine' at the last minute with virtually no preparation. But, as we saw in Fight Club I, he came to win and what a fight it turned out.
It was a great finale to another fantastic night where guys who have never fought before got into the ring and showed that courage is alive and well, that dreams can be realised and that everyday people can do extraordinary things.

REMEMBER: "Don't Talk About Fight Club"
"The hero and the coward both feel the same thing, but the hero uses his fear, projects it onto his opponent, while the coward runs. It's the same thing, fear, but it's what you do with it that matters."
